New Leaf Recovery offer our clients a variety of treatment programmes for all types of addictions, based on considerable experience, thought and planning. Our 7 day treatment programme is designed to manage alcohol withdrawal effectively and safely, but this is, and must be, combined with an introduction to recovery and a closer look at the problem.
We understand that entering treatment can be one of the most difficult decisions anyone will have to do and therefore we endeavour to create an honest, supportive, and positive environment. We believe that this kind of environment offers our clients the best chance to complete their recovery treatment and achieve long-term sobriety.
Why is detoxification necessary?
An alcohol addiction has been known to have many effects on both the body and mind of an individual. The body must be free from the substance within before the mind can be dealt with effectively. Dr Bashir, our medical addiction specialist, assesses each individual’s detox needs and withdrawal risks and agrees a personal detox regime, which is allied to ongoing psychological and emotional support from the team, to ensure the process is monitored, evaluated and help people through the withdrawal stage as comfortably, safely and effectively as possible.
The withdrawal process is always medically supervised and tailored towards dismissing as much anxiety and worry as possible.
What happens in our 7 day programme?
Detox is the cleansing of your body. It flushes out any lingering substances and restores itself to its natural chemistry. However, this process relies on your liver and kidneys (your body’s filtering system).
The first couple of days are typically those in which you experience the most severe symptoms.
A medical detox uses medications and involves medical supervision. This may be used to address the following:
- Ease any pain associated with recovering.
- Helps with anxiety or any other withdrawal symptoms.
- Helps manage the transitional medications.
Therapy and counselling is integrated into the detox process in order to treat mental and behavioural factors.
